Call For Paper HISAS 13


Theme : “Science Progress for Humanity, Food Security, and Prosperity”


HISAS 13 invites new and challenging paper submissions from some area or discipline of design research. We embrace research looking at and using design in the widest possible sense with interdisciplinary work responding to the conference themes. The brief call for paper can be downloaded here.

Area of interest include 3 session (but not limited)

1.Social, Environment and Humanities

Including :  economic development, education, culture, tourism, good governance, policy and human rights.

2.Food and Natural Sciences

Including :  health land degradation, natural resources, biodiversity, nutrition, maritime, natural resources, microbiology, sanitation and agriculture.

3.Engineering and Future Technology

Including :  industry, transportation, infrastructure, telecommunication, energy, nanotechnology and energy management technology.


Extended abstract are required for HISAS 2013. A two- to four-page summary is highly recommended for extended abstracts paper consisting of the methodology and the major result (one-page summaries will not be accepted). The given templates should be used with respect to the guidelines in effect. All submissions must be in English. Templates can be downloaded in the conference website.

All paper must be submitted to third party management system here in pdf or doc format. Additionally, the committee will send all authors an email confirming whether the abstract is selected or not.

Conference Presentation and Proceeding

Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend and present their work at the conference with 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for question and answer. Papers of exceptional quality (as judged by reviewers) will be awarded by the best paper. All accepted papers (extended abstract format) will be published in the conference proceedings.

Learning Trip Program*

All participants are invited to join the HISAS 13 learning trip program. We will visit Sapporo disaster prevention center and sewerage science, a good experience to directly learning about the disaster management and also the water treatment process in Sapporo.
